Likhambi is the siSwati word for a healing blend or mixture, it can also refer to a natural modality to healing our physical and spiritual ailments. As a sangoma my calling and purpose in this life is to channel and provide likhambi that will contribute towards yours and our collective healing and well-being. Likhambi is a healing and well-being consulting sanctuary by Gogo Khayela, who seeks to practice ethical care and guidance that is at the intersection of African traditional healing, research and our current understanding of the psyche in our shared nature and co-existence.
I am a sangoma, healer and academic, I also teach and do research at two universities. I am human and that is enough.
I work online and in person from Gauteng South Africa. I have worked in higher education, specifically the psychology field since 2012, in various capacities from ritual root-work, divination, consultation, home cleansing, business fortification and fortune priming for work and financial stability, teaching, mentoring and coaching, as well as indigenous spiritual well-being research. I have published papers and presented at national and international conferences. In recent years, my work has been focused on African psychology, well-being, indigenous spiritual practice, coaching, ethics and existential dread. My newsletter, Likhambi, is a reflection on life and shared tangible and liminal interiorities.
From me, you can expect spiritual guidance and coaching, as well as an African indigenous-healing based practice that strives to promote well-being, understanding and acceptance of life that is rooted and intent on ethical response to daily living.
